What’s the “Recut” all about?
This year, the Diamond Chef Arkansas. Recut! will come home to PTC’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute and spotlight one of the region’s finest culinary programs. In addition, the Preliminary Competition and the Grand Finale will both be featured in one action-packed night of food and fun.
In the preliminary contest, six chefs will compete head-to-head simultaneously in the multi-kitchen Coca-Cola Competition Lab and event attendees can observe them through large windows. A panel of judges will grade chefs on creativity, taste and preparation. The two chefs with the highest scores will then move on to compete for the Diamond Chef Arkansas. Recut! title that same night.
A mystery ingredient will be revealed moments before a 60-minute clock begins to count down the Grand Finale event. The mystery ingredient must be prominently presented in each of three required courses prepared by the chef. Competing chefs will have a fully-stocked pantry and may bring two sous chefs to assist in the preparation. Judges will again grade competing chefs and the chef with the highest score will be named “Diamond Chef Arkansas. Recut! 2016.”
